Recipe Ingredients for Jillian Michael's Brownies

60 grams Stone Ground 100% Wholemeal Plain Flour
230 grams Clover Honey
0.33 cup Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
0.5 cup Applesauce
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 egg Organic Eggs
0.25 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
0.25 tsp Salt, Table

Recipe Directions for Jillian Michael's Brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 350F, 180C.

  2. Spray an 8-inch square pan with olive oil, set aside.

  3. Place the honey in a large lass measuring cup, and microwave until the honey is runny and just bubbling. Add the cocoa and sir with a fork until well combined. Let cool to room temperature.

  4. In a small bowl, place the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until combined.

  5. In a large bowl, combine the applesuace, oil, egg and vanilla. Whisk together until well blended. Add the honey-cocoa mixture and whisk until smooth. Add the flour mixture to the liquid mixture and stir until no traces of flour remain. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan.

  6. Bake until the surface looks dry around the edges of the pan and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs clinging to it, about 25 min. Do not overbake. Place the pan on a cooling rack and let cool completely before slicing into 16-18 squares.
