Light twist to an old family recipe. You can substitue out the pine nuts and add rice in its place if not worried about carbs! Also can top with parmesan cheese if you like.

Recipe Ingredients for Jeanne's Cabbage Rolls

16 ounces extra lean ground beef
1 egg
1/2 cup mushrooms
2/3 cup cooked rice
1/3 cup pine nuts
2 cloves garlic
5 oz tomato paste
20 oz condensed tomato soup
20 oz tomato juice
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tbsp basil
1/4 tbsp oregano

Recipe Directions for Jeanne's Cabbage Rolls

  1. Preheat over to 375.

  2. chop up mushrooms , onions and garlic and put aside in small bowl with 2 tablespoons of the tomato paste, meat and cooked rice; mix together.

  3. Combine rest of the tomato paste with the tomato soup, juice, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, basil and oregano.

  4. Stuff cabbage with meat (about 1/2- 2/3 cup per roll)and arrange in a big nonstick casserole dish.

  5. Pour sauce on top of rolls

  6. cover and bake for 1 hour and fifteen minutes or until meat is cooked.
