Recipe Ingredients for Jazzy Jerk Soup

2 tbsp olive oil
1 lb pork loin chops, boneless
1 tbsp ginger root
2 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp dried chili flakes
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp allspice
1 cup onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups potato, diced
2 cups sweet potato, diced
2 cups turnip, diced
14 oz creamed corn
14 oz tomatoes, canned
1 cup carrot, sliced
2 cups spinach, lightly packed, coarsely shredded

Recipe Directions for Jazzy Jerk Soup

  1. Heat cooking oil in large frying pan on medium-high. Add next 10 ingredients. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pork is browned.

  2. Add onion and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir 1 cup broth, scraping any brown bits from bottom of pan. Transfer to 4 to 5 quart (4 to 5 L) slow cooker.

  3. Add next 7 ingredients. Stir. Cook covered, on Low for 7 to 8 hours or on High for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

  4. Add spinach. Stir. Cook, covered, on High for about 5 minutes until spinach is wilted. Makes about 12 cups (3 L).
