Serve over your favorite noodles. You can reduce the oil as desired.

Recipe Ingredients for Japchae

8 oz beef
1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup sesame oil
4 tbsp brown sugar
6 carrots, julienned
1 onion
1 sweet potato, julienned
2 cups frozen spinach, thawed
4 tbsp canola oil
1 egg
8 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tsp black pepper

Recipe Directions for Japchae

  1. Make marinade from soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, and black pepper. Marinate beef overnight.

  2. On cooking day, julienne vegetables and set aside.

  3. Thaw and carefully drain spinach. Put into medium bowl.

  4. Sautee the carrots and onions in canola oil separately until each is cooked. Boil sweet potatoes until soft.

  5. Sautee beef over medium heat until cooked.

  6. Combine all cooked ingredients in a bowl with cooked pasta.

  7. Separate egg yolk and white. Fry separately until cooked through. Thinly slice and use with sesame seeds to top pasta, meat and vegetables.
