Good for making Gyuudon or bento. Also works well with pork.

Recipe Ingredients for Japanese Ginger Beef

1 lb beef top sirloin
2 tsp ginger root, peeled and grated
2 tbsp soy sauce (gluten-free)
1 tbsp mirin, or sake with 1 tsp sugar added
2 tsp sesame oil
1 small onion, sliced thinly
1 carrot, julienned thinly
1/4 head cabbage, shredded

Recipe Directions for Japanese Ginger Beef

  1. Slice the beef very thinly across the grain. It helps to slice when the meat is partially frozen.

  2. Mix soy sauce, ginger, and mirin and marinate the beef for 30 minutes.

  3. Heat 1 tsp sesame oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add meat and stir-fry until mostly done but still a little pink. Remove meat and set aside.

  4. Add remaining sesame oil and vegetables. Stir-fry until crisp-tender. Add meat back into the pan and stir-fry until cooked through.
