Adapted from a recipe from a Lebanese website that is also at epicurious. Other recipes use turmeric and cilantro, but I have not tried that. Some add two carrots and one potato. Meat can be lamb or good beef like filet mignon.

Recipe Ingredients for Jannid's Loubya

1 pound green beans, trimmed
32 oz tomatoes, crushed
3 onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
3 tbs olive oil
2 tbs lemon juice
1/8 t salt
1/4 t pepper
2 t cinnamon
1 lb beef

Recipe Directions for Jannid's Loubya

  1. Brown the meat in a little olive oil and remove from the pan. Heat the olive oil in the same pan over a medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until very soft, around 10 minutes

  2. Add the garlic, beans, salt, pepper and cinnamon and saute for on a low heat for 10-15 minutes, or till the beans started to wilt.

  3. Add the tomatoes and lemon juice, then bring to a boil.

  4. Cover and cook over a very low heat until the tomatoes form a thick sauce ? around 45 minutes.
