Recipe Ingredients for Jannid's Green Beans with tomato and onion

1 1/2 pounds green beans
1/4 c olive oil
1/2 t salt
1 yellow onion
3 T tomato paste
1 t dark brown sugar
3/4 c water
1/4 t black pepper

Recipe Directions for Jannid's Green Beans with tomato and onion

  1. Steam the trimmed beans til crisp tender - about 5-6 minutes. Refresh under cold water and pat dry.

  2. In a large skillet, add olive oil over med high heat; add salt then sliced onion; reduce heat to medium or med low.

  3. Gently saute til onion is rich golden brown - stir periodically to prevent scorching.

  4. Add tomato paste, brown sugar, and water; stir well. Increase heat to med-high; add green beans and if you like, fresh cracked pepper and more salt.
