Some call it a casserole, I call it lasagna.

Recipe Ingredients for Irish Lasagna

4 serving Bison Burger
3 medium Carrots
0.25 cup, diced Celery
0.5 cup, chopped Onions
4 oz Baby Bella
588 grams Potatoes, Boiled
8 oz Gruyere
8 oz Tomato Sauce No Salt Added
1 serving Beer
1 cube Bouillon
9 grams Whole Wheat Flour
2 tbsp Parmesan, Grated Cheese

Recipe Directions for Irish Lasagna

  1. Preheat oven to 400.

  2. Peel and slice potatoes. I used my mandolin, the 1/4" setting. Place in pot with water and bring to a boil. Boil until tender (about 8 minutes). Drain potatoes in colander and sprinkle with salt.

  3. Spray large saute pan with cooking spray. Over medium high heat, saute chopped carrots, celery and onion until tender. Add ground bison burger and cook until browned. Add mushrooms, Guinness, beef bouillon (dissolved in water) and tomato sauce. Cook until mushrooms become tender. Add desired seasonings (I used salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder and time). Dissolve flour in 1.5 tbsp of water to make a slurry. Add to bison mixture and stir. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  4. Add a small amount of the saucy bison mixture to the bottom of casserole dish. Place a layer of potatoes, then top with bison mixture. Add a layer of shredded gruyere, then repeat layers, ending with gruyere. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

  5. Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil from pan and bake another 10 minutes until cheese is browned.
