this is a delicious red lentil dip similar to hummus. The spices can be varied or changed to suit your tastes and cravings.

Recipe Ingredients for Inidan Red Lentil Dip

180 g red lentils
1 onion, chopped
590 ml water
4 g curry powder
1 g cayenne pepper
15 ml vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic
2 g cumin seeds

Recipe Directions for Inidan Red Lentil Dip

  1. In a medium saucepan combine the lentils, onion and water. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes or until lentils are soft. Pass lentils through a food mill or blend them in a blender.

  2. Toast curry powder and cumin seeds in a small skillet over medium heat until fragrant. Add cayenne, oil and garlic. Saute for 1 minute.

  3. Stir spice mixture into lentils and serve.
