from mark bittmans book how to cook everything. may not be a healthy recipe but its worth every calorie! i make the batter then freeze small amounts; wrapped in saran wrap then placed in a freezer bag; so you have it ready when the urge hits. plus your not tempted by having a full batch in the kitchen. cookies are about 2 1/2 inches in diameter; servings may vary by batch.

Recipe Ingredients for indy's cookies- classic chocolate chip

1/2 pound butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for indy's cookies- classic chocolate chip

  1. preheat oven to 375

  2. cream together butter and sugars

  3. add eggs one at a time and beat till well blended

  4. combine dry ingredients

  5. add to batter

  6. stir in vanilla

  7. stir in chocolate chips

  8. drop by tablespoon or cookie scoop onto ungreased cookie sheet

  9. bake until browned, about ten minutes

  10. cool for 2 minutes on baking sheet then transfer to a wire rack

  11. store in a covered container at room temperature for a day or two
