Recipe Ingredients for Indian Five-Spice Shrimp

2 tsp olive oil
1 medium onion, minced
8 g fresh ginger root, grated (about 1 T)
2 cloves garlic
1/8 tsp chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
2 medium tomatoes, pureed
448 g shrimp, shelled and deveined

Recipe Directions for Indian Five-Spice Shrimp

  1. Heat oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Saute onions until goledn brown, about 3-5 minutes.

  2. Grind ginger and garlic into a paste; add it and the remaining spices and tomatoes to pan; simmer 5 minutes.

  3. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring once or twice to turn the shrimp.

  4. Serve over rice, if desired. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro.
