Recipe Ingredients for Indian Chopped Salad

1 tsp Cumin
2 large whole (3" dia) Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
16 oz Hothouse Cucumber
1.5 cup chopped Red Onion
1 pepper Peppers, Jalapeno
1.5 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Cayenne
1/4 tsp Spices Ground Black Pepper
1 lime yields Lime Juice

Recipe Directions for Indian Chopped Salad

  1. In a small, dry skillet over medium heat, toast the cumin, shaking the pan frequently to prevent it from

  2. burning, until it is very fragrant, about three minutes.

  3. Seed and chop the English cucumber.

  4. In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and toss to combine. Taste for seasoning, adding more salt, lime juice or cayenne as desired, and serve.

  5. Note:

  6. Feel free to add any combination of sliced bananas, chopped apples, seedless grapes, chopped guava, chopped pineapple and orange segments to the salad along with 1/2 teaspoon of chaat masala. These ingredients are not calculated in the calorie count.
