Less oil and cornstarch than the regular version cuts calories in half. Uses less expensive imitation crab. make your own five spice powder as follows: 10g star anise 10g cinnamon 10g peppercorn 10g cumin seeds 5g clove 2g coriandar seeds (optional) pinch cardamom (optional)

Recipe Ingredients for Imperial Stir Fry Crab - Reduced Calorie Version

5 oz. imitation crab meat
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
2 tsp scallions, chopped
1/2 med. onion, chopped
1 tsp. chopped ginger
1 tsp. chopped garlic
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. powdered ginger
1/4 tsp. five spice powder, or to taste

Recipe Directions for Imperial Stir Fry Crab - Reduced Calorie Version

  1. Coat chopped crab pieces with cornstarch.

  2. Heat wok to medium and very lightly fry crab in the oil. Set aside.

  3. Add ginger, garlic, onion, scallions and red pepper and stir fry for a minute. Then add the crab and continue stir frying until the edges of the crab brown.

  4. Add salt, pepper, five spices and ginger.
