Typically dutch dish, traditionally eaten to commemorate the relief of the Siege of Leiden in 1574 on October the 3rd.

Recipe Ingredients for Hutspot

1000 gram potatos
500 gram carrots
500 gram onions
2 tbs butter
1/2 liter beef stock

Recipe Directions for Hutspot

  1. Finely chop the carrots and peel the potatoes. Add all into a pan with the stock, bring to the boil. Once it is boiling, chop the onions and add to the mix.

  2. Cook until the potatoes are done, then drain. Keep some of the cooking water. Mash it up with the butter, and add some of the water until it has a slightly more runny consistency than regular mash.

  3. Best eaten with mustard and a nice piece of bacon.
