A meaty stew I cook outdoors on an open fire. It's just as good indoors. Pronounced Gulyasleves

Recipe Ingredients for Hungarian Goulash

130 oz Beef, Chuck
3 cup slices Carrots
5 stalks Celery
12 medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia.) Potatoes, Boiled
10 tsp Paprika
3 cup Noodles, Egg

Recipe Directions for Hungarian Goulash

  1. Cut beef into 1 inch squares, add 1/2 tsp. salt. Chop onions and brown in shortening, add beef and paprika. Let beef simmer in its own juice along with salt and paprika for 1 hr. on low heat.

  2. Add 5 liters of water, diced potatoes and remaining salt.

  3. Cover and simmer until potatoes are done and meat is tender.

  4. Prepare egg dumpling batter.

  5. 1 egg

  6. 6 Tbsp. flour

  7. 1/8 tsp. salt

  8. Add flour to unbeaten egg and salt. Mix well. Let stand for 1/2 hour for flour to mellow. Drop by teaspoonful into Goulash. Cover and simmer 5 minutes after dumplings rise to surface.

  9. Serve hot with dollops of sour cream.
