Recipe Ingredients for Hungarian Chicken Paprikash

3 tbsp. paprika (Hungarian)
3 pounds chicken, breast, boneless, skinless
1 tsp. vegetable oil
1 cup onion, chopped
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
4 cups chicken broth, low sodium
1 cup cream, sour, reduced fat
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. pepper

Recipe Directions for Hungarian Chicken Paprikash

  1. Cook chicken in Turbo oven or Flavorwave oven. This way you don't use flour to dredge the chicken or add oil to the fry pan to brown it.

  2. Remove chicken from oven and cut into bite size pieces.

  3. Add the tsp. of oil to pot, over medium heat.

  4. Add onion, cayenne pepper.

  5. Saute until the onion is tender, about 2 minutes. Add 1 tbsp. paprika. Mix in.

  6. Return chicken to pot and add enough chicken broth to cover.

  7. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer about 30 to 45 minutes, until chicken is done.

  8. Remove from heat and let paprikash cool down.

  9. Combine flour and 1/2 cup sour cream.

  10. Add small amount of liquid from pot into mixture and whisk until smooth.

  11. Add mixture to pot stirring constantly and simmer for 5 minutes.

  12. Let cool down again and add remaining sour cream, stirring constantly.

  13. Sauce should be a very pale orange colour.

  14. Serve over broad egg noodles.
