This is a tasty variation of oatmeal to warm up cool mornings. You may also use millet instead of quinoa and any type of fruit or milk. Cloves is another spice to give a deeper flaver.

Recipe Ingredients for Hot Quinoa Cereal

1 cup quinoa
2 cups water
1/2 cup apples, thinly sliced
1/3 cup raisins
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup skim milk
2 tablespoons honey

Recipe Directions for Hot Quinoa Cereal

  1. Purchase pre-rinsed quinoa.

  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the quinoa and water and bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.

  4. Add apples, raisins and cinnamon

  5. Simmer until water is absorbed

  6. Serve with milk or cream and sweeten to taste with honey or brown sugar.
