1/2 cup peas
4 c water
1/4 c banana pepper
4 oz ham hock
4 green onions
1/2 c rice

Recipe Directions for hoppin john

put in sauce pan blackeyed peas,ham hock,onion,pepper, water gently simmer till beans are done but not mushy. about 1 1/5 hrs. cook uncovered. add rice cover simmer on low for 10 min.remove from heat let sit for 5 min. add more water whenever it is needed
