Recipe Ingredients for Honolulu Skillet Beans

1 Cooking spray
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tsp mustard
2 tbsp catsup or tomato paste
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp dark sesame oil
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tbsp grated orange peel (from one orange)
1/4 c dry kidney beans (1 c cooked)
1/4 c dry great northern beans (1 c cooked)
1/4 c dry black beans (1 c cooked)
1/4 c dry black-eyed peas (1 c cooked)
1 c diced pineapple

Recipe Directions for Honolulu Skillet Beans

  1. In a skillet or saucepan coated with cooking srpay, sauté onions until soft and beginning to brown, about 10 minutes.

  2. In a small bowl, stir together hoisin sauce and next 6 ingredients (through orange peel).

  3. Add cooked beans and pineapple to onions. Stir in sauce and simmer gently until heated through.
