Delicious whole wheat bread sweetened with honey.

Recipe Ingredients for Honey Whole Wheat Bread

3 cups water
1/3 cup honey
3 1/2 tsp. yeast
7 cups whole wheat flour (approximate)
1 tbsp. salt
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup vital wheat gluten

Recipe Directions for Honey Whole Wheat Bread

  1. Using a small to medium saucepan, heat water and honey on the stove at medium heat until just barely warm.

  2. Add the yeast and 4 cups of flour. Mix for 4 minutes (this develops the gluten). Next add the salt, oil, vital wheat gluten and 2 more cups of flour. Mix again for 4 minutes.

  3. Add remaining flour a little at a time (tablespoons at a time) until a soft dough forms. Mix for 5 minutes more, and then let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

  4. Transfer dough to a large mixing bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Let rise for 1 hour (if using a professional mixer, dough only needs to rest for 15 minutes).

  5. Grease bread pans and lightly grease the cutting board. Punch down dough and transfer to cutting board. Cut into 2 sections and form into loaves. Place loaves into bread pans. Allow to rise, lightly covered, for 1 hour.

  6. Preheat oven to 350 F. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
