Recipe Ingredients for Honey Whole Wheat Bread

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk
1/2 tbsp. salt
1 package Active Dry Yeast
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp. canola oil
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups bran

Recipe Directions for Honey Whole Wheat Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, dry milk, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.

  3. Heat water, honey, and oil in a saucepan until warm.

  4. Pour liquid ingredients over dry ingredients.

  5. By hand, stir in 2 more cups of flour and 1 to 1 1/2 cups bran.

  6. Knead on floured surface for 5 minutes.

  7. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise for an hour (double size).

  8. Punch down and place in greased loaf pan.

  9. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes (double size).

  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until top sounds hollow.

  11. Remove from pan and cool.
