Delicious and hearty way to start the day. Have with milk or mix into low-fat yogurt and additional fresh fruit. Substitute dried fruit with other dried fruit favorites. If you cannot find triticale (try bulk section of natural foods store), just use additional 1 cup of oats.

Recipe Ingredients for Honey-Toasted Fruit Muesli

5 cups rolled oats
1 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup triticale
1 cup shredded coconut
2 tbsp sesame seeds
3/4 cup honey
4 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup finely sliced dried apricot
1/4 cup finely sliced dried apple
1/4 cup finely sliced dried peaches

Recipe Directions for Honey-Toasted Fruit Muesli

  1. Preheat oven to 300F degrees.

  2. Put rolled oats, sunflower seeds, almonds, triticale, coconut and sesame seeds into large bowl. Stir to combine.

  3. Heat honey and oil in saucepan over low heat until honey dissolved.

  4. Pour warm honey mixture over dry ingredients and stir until they are well-coated.

  5. Line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.

  6. Spread mixture across baking sheets.

  7. Bake 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

  9. Add dried fruit and toss to combine (I use same large bowl used to mix dry ingredients before baking).

  10. Store in an airtight container.
