A very rich honey cake that is best served by itself or with some sort of tea. I would not advise adding anything more sweet, because if the cake is cooked correctly, it's incredibly sweet and heavy on its own.

Recipe Ingredients for Honey Cake

1 cup honey
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup pastry flour
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1 dash cinnamon
1 dash nutmeg
1/8 cup poppy seed
1/2 cup water
1 tsp baking powder
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Recipe Directions for Honey Cake

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. With beaters, blend honey alone in medium bowl for about three minutes on high. In a small bowl, blend one egg until a liquid. Pour the egg into the honey bowl, along with the water and vegetable oil. Canola works too. Blend this mixture for a minute or so. Then in another bowl. have the flours, baking powder, salt, poppy seed, and other spices ready to pour all into the bowl in once. blend this until thin like cake batter. Once a batter, pour into a greased regular-sized loaf pan and bake for about an hour. Minutes might have to be added or subtracted, it's hard to get the center right. It often comes out being all batter-y. Let cool for about fifteen to twenty minutes then divide into 6 large pieces or twelve smaller ones. The larger pieces are about 350 calories, by the way. Good luck, and enjoy.
