Low fat and high in nutrients, this is a great easy winter supper. You can serve as is or over ditalini pasta, with Mexican cheese.

Recipe Ingredients for Homestyle Chili with Beans

1 lb lean ground beef
1 green pepper
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
28 ounce crushed tomatoes
15 ounce tomato sauce
24 oz light red kidney beans
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 tablespoons chili powder

Recipe Directions for Homestyle Chili with Beans

Brown beef with onion, garlic, green pepper and onion. Add remaining ingredients, plus about 8 oz of water or more, to make it thinner. Bring to boil, reduce heat and cover. Check seasonings and adjust to your liking. Simmer at least 20 minutes, longer is better.
