Vegetarian mushroom stroganoff made from scratch.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Vegetarian Stroganoff

2 cup dry Macaroni
3 tbsp Butter
2 tbsp Flour
3/4 cup Half and Half
3/4 cup water
1 cup chopped mushrooms
2 tbsp dried onion
1/2 cup Sour Cream

Recipe Directions for Homemade Vegetarian Stroganoff

  1. Boil noodles.

  2. Sautee mushrooms and dried onion in 1 tbsp butter at medium high heat.

  3. Remove sauteed mixture from pan.

  4. Turn stove to low heat and melt 2tbsp butter in pan.

  5. Add flour to butter.

  6. Stir until clumps of flour are broken up.

  7. Slowly add the Half & Half while continuing to whisk rigorously.

  8. After all the clumps are gone slowly add the water, still whisking rigorously.

  9. When all clumps are gone add sauteed mix back into the pan and stir occasionally as mix thickens.

  10. When the sauce has reached desired thickness add the sour cream.

  11. Salt and pepper to taste.

  12. Pour sauce over noodles and serve.
