Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Spinach and Sausage Pizza

3 3/4 cups water
6 3/4 teaspoons dry yeast
9 cups unbleached flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 cups Sargento Reduced Fat 4 Cheese Italian Shredded Cheese
3 packages Sauce, pizza, canned, ready-to-serve
6 cloves garlic
3 large onions
8 oz frozen spinach
1 lb lean ground pork (salt and pepper style)

Recipe Directions for Homemade Spinach and Sausage Pizza

  1. Mix warm water with yeast and let stand for a few minutes

  2. Slice onions

  3. Chop garlic

  4. Saute onions, garlic, and ground pork in skillet with a tablespoon of water over medium heat until onions are pliable and pork is slightly browned remove from heat, turn off burner, and drain off excess liquid

  5. Thaw spinach in microwave

  6. Wrap thawed spinach in woven dry towel, squeeze off excess water

  7. Mix flour and salt together

  8. Mix 1/2 of flour mixture into liquid, then add the rest of the flour and knead together

  9. Roll out 3 crusts (thin for a crispy crust, or thicker for a softer, chewy crust)

  10. Pre-cook dough on a baking sheet covered with cornmeal, flipping once (to avoid a soggy crust once toppings are added)

  11. Once crust is partially cooked, pull out

  12. Top each crust with 1 can of pizza sauce

  13. Top each pizza with 1/3 of spinach, garlic, onions, and ground pork

  14. Put pizzas back in the oven and cook until cheese is bubbly (10-15 minutes)

  15. Cut each pizza into 8 slices

  16. Each serving is 2 slices

  17. Serve on plate with a side salad.
