Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

1 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 cloves garlic, finely chopped
16 oz no salt diced tomatoes
16 oz stewed tomatoes
1 1/5 tablespoons sugar
1/4 tablespoon dried basil leaves
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Recipe Directions for Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat and add onions and garlic; cook 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender and translucent. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover; cook on Low heat to simmer 45-50 minutes.
