Vegetarian fake meat. Yay!~ Quick and easy.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Seitan

1 cup Vital Wheat Gluten
3/4 cup Certified Organic Vegetable Broth
2 tablespoons Nutritional Yeast
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 cup Certified Organic Vegetable Broth

Recipe Directions for Homemade Seitan

  1. Preheat oven to 350*.

  2. Combine dry ingredients and then add in the wet ones (reserving 1 cup of veggie broth for later use).

  3. Knead the mixture. The more you knead, the more dense (chewier) it will be. Separate the ball into pieces.

  4. Add the 1 cup veggie broth to a baking pan.

  5. Place the pieces of the uncooked seitan into the pan. (Optional - spray some Bragg's Liquid Aminos.) Leave space between the pieces as they will expand.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes.

  7. Flip the pieces over and give the other side a chance to cook for another 10 minutes.

  8. Allow to cool. Serve however desired.

  9. *Can be stored in fridge in a covered container with the broth for a couple of weeks.*
