Perfect for football season! Dough is easy to make with a bread machine using a pizza dough or dough setting. Just roll and add your toppings! Here I've added homemade pizza sauce, green peppers, sausage, and cheese.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Sausage Pizza and Sauce and Dough

3/4 cup water
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. active dry yeast
2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. italian seasoning
6 oz. tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tsp. italian seasoning
1 tsp. minced garlic
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 green pepper, diced
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Recipe Directions for Homemade Sausage Pizza and Sauce and Dough

  1. For the dough:

  2. Take out your bread machine and check to make sure it has a pizza dough or dough setting. I use the dough setting because mine doesn't have a pizza dough setting. The below order of ingredients will work for ANY bread machine.

  3. 1.Measure 3/4 cup hot water first. Then add the olive oil. After that add the salt. It's important that the salt is added at this time because it should be separate from the yeast so it doesn't activate the yeast.

  4. 2.Next measure the flour and sugar. After that you can add a little garlic powder or italian seasoning if you'd like. I add both and sprinkle it around the edges of the mixture, leaving the middle of the mixture for the yeast. Last add the yeast.

  5. 3.Turn on the dough setting and wait for the dough to complete.

  6. While you're waiting you will want to make the pizza sauce so it can sit for a couple hours while the dough is rising.

  7. For the sauce:

  8. Measure the tomato paste, water, olive oil, garlic, and italian seas. into a bowl. Mix it together and let it sit for a couple hours for the flavor to grow. No need to cook or refrigerate.

  9. Once the dough is done, plop it onto a well floured surface, roll it to your desirede thickness and then place it on your pizza stone/pan. Take the excess edges and fold them up, making a ridge for the crust. Brush a little olive oil along the crust.

  10. Then use a fork to poke wholes all along the dough to prevent air bubbles.

  11. Add sauce, meat, veggies. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes.
