Rice-a-Roni the home made, healthier way. With cabbage, because everything is better with cabbage :] You can increase the turmeric and bouillon if the outcome is too bland.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Rice-a-Roni

1 cup white rice
2 1/2 cup water
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups green cabbage, cubed
1/8 tsp turmeric
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 egg

Recipe Directions for Homemade Rice-a-Roni

  1. Saute the garlic in oil in medium sauce pan until slightly browned; add water and bring to a boil.

  2. When boiling, add turmeric, bouillon, rice, and cabbage and stir.

  3. Cook on low heat, covered for 20 minutes, or until all water is absorbed.

  4. Stir. Crack egg onto the rice and cover for about a minute, until whites begin to cook.

  5. Stir egg into rice well. Wait 3 minutes for egg to cook through.

  6. Serve hot.
