Soft pretzel that is sooooo much better than Aunt Annies

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade pretzles

2 1/2 tsp yeast
1 1/2 cup water
2 tbs brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup bread flour
3 cup unbleached flour
1/4 cup butter
1 tbs salt

Recipe Directions for Homemade pretzles

  1. Combine flours, salt, sugar, and yeast in the mixing bowl of a stand mixer. Mix to blend, then turn to slow and slowly pour in warm water.

  2. Mix with dough hook for 2-3 minutes, just until dough forms. Cover and let rest for 10-15 minutes, then knead at medium speed for 4-5 minutes, until dough is smooth and not as sticky.

  3. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. While dough rises, combine 2 tablespoons baking soda with 2 cups warm water.

  4. After rise, divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a 14" long snake, dip in baking soda/water mixture, and shape on a prepared sheet. Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt.

  5. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, or until deep golden brown. Enjoy.
