Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Pizza

4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp active dry yeast
1 cups water, 110 degrees
2 tbl olive oil
14 1/2 oz diced tomatoes
2 tbl olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
6 cloves garlic, minced
4 oz broccoli, cut into small florets
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp olive oil
4 oz mushrooms, sliced
3 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 oz parmesan cheese, shredded

Recipe Directions for Homemade Pizza

  1. The Dough: Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside while mixing flour and salt in food processor. With food processor running, add yeast/water in a steady stream. When dough starts to pull away from sides of mixer bowl, add oil and pulse until mixed through. Take dough out, knead lightly, and cut in half. Shape each half into a smooth round ball, and cover both with a tea towel. Place in a warmish area, (at least 6" away from each other) to rise for about 45 minutes (until doubled in size).

  2. The Sauce: Mix tomatoes, oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in medium bowl. Mash until tomatoes are broken up and ingredients are mixed. Keep covered at room temperature until ready to use.

  3. The Toppings: Saute broccoli in 1-1/2 tsp olive oil. Stir in minced clove of garlic.

  4. Assemble Pizzas: Place pizza stone in oven and preheat to 500 degrees. Take one ball of dough, punch it down, knead it, and flatten it into a large circle, stretching gently to enlarge to about 14" diameter. Add sauce, spreading thinly and evenly. Add broccoli, pepperoni, salami as desired, and top with half of the mozzarella. Bake in oven for about 15 minutes, turning as needed to evenly brown dough.

  5. Remove from oven and let cool a bit before slicing.

  6. Repeat w/other ball of dough.
