Makes 3 loaves. Calculate cal. per slice. One loaf(if divided evenly) is approx 920 cal. / by # of slices 12 slices per loaf = 75.5 cal per slice

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Oatmeal Bread

1 cup Wheat Flour, Whole-grain
3 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
1 3/4 tsp Salt, Table
1/2 cup Molasses
3/4 cup dry Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
1 large Egg, Whole
2 tbsp Butter
1 1/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water

Recipe Directions for Homemade Oatmeal Bread

  1. 1 tsp sugar disolved in 1/2 c water

  2. sprinkle pkg. yeast let stand 10 min

  3. 1.25 cups boiling water, add molasses, butter, let stand 15 min.

  4. add yeast mixture and beaten egg

  5. add 1 c ww flour and 1 c white flour, salt, mix well.

  6. add remaining flour. Turn out on board knead for 10 min.

  7. Place oiled dough in oiled bowl and let rise for 2 hr.

  8. Punch down, cut into 3 portions

  9. put in oiled pans. I use Tomatoe Juice cans. Let rise for approx. 1.5 hrs. Bake at 375 for 35min or until sounds hollow went loaf is tapped on bottom.
