This cereal is from the GI Diet Clinic. "it makes a delicious and healthy start to the day. Be sure to prepare it the night before so that its ready to enjoy in the morning. Combine 1/3 cup of the muesli with 1/3 cup of skim milk or water and cover and refrigerate overnight. Then in the morning, combine the mixture with 1 container (175 g) of non-fat sugarfree yogurt (fruit variety) and enjoy it cold, or pop it in the microwave for a hot breakfast.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Muesli

2 cups old fashioned oats
3/4 cup oat bran
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
2 tbsp wheat germ
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Homemade Muesli

  1. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine oats, oat bran, almonds, sunflower seeds, wheat germ, and cinnamon.

  2. Using a rolling pin crush the mixture into coarse crumbs.

  3. Shake bag to combine mixture.

  4. Leave in plastic bag, or transfer to another resealable container.

  5. Makes 3 cups (1/3 cup serving each)
