Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

1 box Elbows Dry
5.33 tbsp Butter
0.333 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
3 Teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
6 tsp Mustard Powder
3 cup Milk, Lowfat, Fluid, 1% Milkfat
8 oz Cheddar Cheese
1.75 cup, shredded Swiss Cheese
7 oz Pepper Jack Cheese
0.5 cup Bread Crumbs Plain
6 tsp Parmesan 100% Grated
1 tsp Salt, Table
1 tsp Pepper, Black
3 tsp Mustard Powder
2 tsp, ground Basil, Dried
0.5 tsp Garlic Powder
0.5 tsp Onion Powder
2 tsp Garlic

Recipe Directions for Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

  1. Cook macaroni in salted water till al dente, rinse with cool water to stop cooking

  2. Combine flour and butter in large pot with fresh garlic, make a roux.

  3. Add in Worcestershire sauce and 2 Tbsp of dry mustard.

  4. Add in milk, one cup at a time, whisking until sauce thickens and milk is about to boil.

  5. Turn of heat and stir in cheese gradually.

  6. And salt and pepper to cheese sauce as desired (optional: ground nutmeg).

  7. Pour cooked pasta into cheese sauce pot and combine.

  8. Pour whole mixture into greased 9x13 casserole dish.

  9. Combine bread crumbs, parmesan, basil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion, powder, and remaining mustard in separate bowl.

  10. Sprinkle on top of macaroni until coated.

  11. When ready to eat, bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes, until crust is browned and cheese is bubbly.
