Recipe Ingredients for homemade macaroni and cheese

4 c elbow macaroni
4 T butter
1/4 c flour
5 c milk, one percent
5 c grated cheese
20 crackers
2 t salt
2 t garlic
1/2 t basil

Recipe Directions for homemade macaroni and cheese

Cook macaroni according to package directions. Make a white sauce with the butter, flour, salt, seasonings, and milk. When the sauce starts to thicken, remove from heat and stir in 3/4 of cheese. Add the macaroni and meat, if desired. Top with grated cheese and broken cracker crumbs. Bake 325 for 20 minutes.
