This is another one of my family favorites.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Mac & Cheese

3 c whole wheat elbow macaroni (cooked and drained)
6 T margarine or butter
4 T flour
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
4 c milk
1 lb cheese

Recipe Directions for Homemade Mac & Cheese

  1. Cook and drain the noodles. Leave in strainer.

  2. On medium heat melt the butter.

  3. Blend in flour, salt and pepper.

  4. Add milk and stir until thick and bubbly. (I use 3 1/2 c skim milk instead of reg milk).

  5. Cut up the cheese and add to milk mixture. Cook and stir until cheese is melted.

  6. Add the noodles.

  7. Put in greased 9x13 casserole dish, cover & bake at 350 for 35-40 min.

  8. *I have also added bacon bits for a little more flavor and color.
