(Usually has Hebrew National fat free hot dog franks in, about 1 per serving)

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Mac and Cheese

6 ounces macaroni
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup 2% milk
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp thyme
1 tbsp oregano
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3/4 cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 shiitake mushrooms
1/2 cup bread crumbs

Recipe Directions for Homemade Mac and Cheese

  1. Boil macaroni, drain and set aside when just tender

  2. Sautee onions, seasonings and garlic in half the butter, until soft and fragrant. Add mushrooms and cook until soft.

  3. Remove from pan, then heat remaining butter. Add flour and stir until smooth. Add milk, stirring until fully incorporated. Add cheese, pepper and salt.

  4. Put onion mixture, hotdogs and pasta in pot with cheese mixture, stir well.

  5. Pour into greased baking dish, and cook at 375 for about 20-25 minutes
