This starts with Mom's spaghetti sauce and adds noodles and 3 cheeses for an authentic lasagna.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Lasagna

1 lb ground beef
2 cloves garlic, medium, minced
1/2 cup bell pepper, diced
1/2 cup onion, diced
15 oz tomatos , canned
16 oz tomato sauce
4 oz tomato paste
4 oz canned mushrooms , drained
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup worcestshire sauce
2 tbs parsley
1 1/2 tsp basil
3/4 tsp oregano, leaf
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp rosemary, crushed
1 tsp chili powder
1 dash pepper
8 oz lasagna noodles
2 1/2 cups 2% cottage cheese
3/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 pound mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
2 eggs
1 T olive oil

Recipe Directions for Homemade Lasagna

  1. Brown ground beef, onions, peppers, and garlic - drain & set aside

  2. Combine next 15 ingredients and bring to a boil

  3. Add beef mixture, reduce heat and simmer until desired thickness

  4. Cook noodles in olive oil, rinse, & drain

  5. Beat eggs; add cottage cheese & 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese

  6. In a 13x9x2 pan layer 1/2 noodles;spread with 1/2 cottage cheese mixture.

  7. Add 1/2 the mozzarella and 1/2 sauce

  8. Repeat layers

  9. Sprinkle remaining parmesan atop.

  10. Bake at 375 deg for 30-35 minutes until heated through

  11. Let stand 10 minutes before serving
