Those nut-and-fruit Larabars in the store? Try these! Three is equal to one Larabar. Healthy, tasty. and cheaper than buying the real thing. (Also, the grade's a B-, but honestly, that's crap. It's an A without the vanilla extract because of the alcohol content.)

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Larabar Balls

1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tablespoon flax seeds (or flax meal)
2/3 cup craisins
1/3 cup pecans
1/3 cup almonds
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Homemade Larabar Balls

  1. In a food processor, grind 1/2 cup rolled oats until fine.

  2. Add 1 tablespoon flaxseed, 2/3 cup craisins or raisins, 1/3 cup pecans, 1/3 cup almonds, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon canola oil, 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey), and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Pulse until finely ground and moist. Shape into small balls and refrigerate.
