Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Irish Chicken and Dumplings

2 1/2 cup Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flour
6 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Truvia
3 serving Salt Substitute
5 tbsp Canola Oil
0.66 serving Skim Milk
21 1/2 oz Cream of Chicken Soup
3 Glass Water
1 1/2 cup, diced Celery
2 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
6 serving Salt Substitute
1/2 tsp Seasoning Blend
1/2 tsp Pepper, Black
2 breast, bone and skin removed Chicken, Breast, Meat Only
5 carrot (7-1/2") Carrots
253 g (10 oz) yields Peas, Green
4 Potato medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia) Potato, Flesh And Skin

Recipe Directions for Homemade Irish Chicken and Dumplings

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and 1/2 tsp salt in a mixing bowl. Add oil and mix with a fork or pastry blender; you should have small lumps throughout the mixture. Refrigerate until needed.

  2. In large, heavy pot, combine soup, water, chicken, celery, onion, salt, poultry seasoning, and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat about 1 1/2 hours.

  3. Add potatoes and carrots; cover and cook another 30 minutes.

  4. Remove chicken from pot, shred it, and return to pot. Add peas and cook only 5 minutes longer.

  5. Add dumplings. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto BOILING stew. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, then uncover and simmer an additional 10 minutes.
