Classic homemade hummus, makes about 10 cups, can be frozen to preserve! Sprinkle some olive oil on top and serve with fresh veggies!

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Hummus

3 cup Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans, Bengal Gram), Mature Seeds
15 oz Sesame Tahini
6 clove Garlic
1 Glass Water
2. tsp Sea Salt
1 cup Lemon Juice, Canned Or Bottled

Recipe Directions for Homemade Hummus

  1. Soak 3 cups beans overnight. Put beans in a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Add 1 tsp sea salt and boil (covered) for 1.5 hours. Meanwhile, add chopped garlic, 1 tsp sea salt, 1 can sesame tahini, and 1 cup lemon juice to large food processer. Process to a fine paste. Drain chickpeas, reserving liquid. Remove visible pea husks. Add beans a little at a time, adding the reserved water as needed for desired consistancy.

  2. Spoon finished hummus into containers leaving 1 inch at the top. Cool in the refrigerator. When it is cool, place the containers you want to freeze in the freezer. Containers going in the freezer should be sprinkled with olive oil so that it will not be dry when you defrost it.
