Recipe Ingredients for homemade herby beans

8 ounces dried navy beans
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, pureed
400 grams canned tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
1 salt and pepper, season to taste

Recipe Directions for homemade herby beans

  1. Cook the beans and set aside.

  2. Heat the oil and fry the onion, until soft and then add the garlic, cook gently for 2 minutes contantly stirring. Add the tomatoes and tomato puree and mixed herbs cook for

  3. 5-10 minutes or until sauce has slightly thickened. Then blend to a puree with either a food processor or hand blender

  4. Pour the sauce over the beans season to taste and mix well and marinade for at least an hour.

  5. After an hour reheat and serve.
