I got this recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I like egg custard and I wanted to give it a try.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade custard

2 cup Milk, Reduced Fat, Fluid, 2% Milkfat
4 oz Pure Cane Sugar
4 large Egg, Whole
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
0.25 tsp Salt, Table
1/4 tsp Nutmeg

Recipe Directions for Homemade custard

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Prepare an 8x8 pan or 6 6oz. ramekins by placing it/them into a 9x11 baking pan. Place in oven to preheat.

  3. Crack eggs in to a blender. Pulse for 10 seconds.

  4. Then add remaining ingredients, except for nutmeg, to blender. Mix for 30 seconds.

  5. Pour the egg mixture into the 8x8 or the ramekins. Sprinkle nutmeg on top if you choose.

  6. Pour boiling water into the 9x11 pan up to 1 inch deep.

  7. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes for the 8x8 or 30 to 40 minutes for the ramekins. Check to see if it is done by inserting a clean knife into the middle of the custard. If it comes out clean it is ready.

  8. Serve warm or chilled.
