Recipe Ingredients for homemade chocolate chip cookies

3/4 cups shortening
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts
1 cup oatmeal

Recipe Directions for homemade chocolate chip cookies

  1. preheat oven to 375

  2. cream golden crisco and brown sugar in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer for 2 minutes or til light

  3. add egg, milk and vanilla, beat 1 min to til well blended

  4. combine flour, salt baking soda & oats. Add to creamed mixture gradually, beating on low for 1 min or just til blended

  5. stir in chocolate chips and nuts

  6. drop dough by heaping spoonfuls (2 tbsp/30 ml) on ungreased baking sheet leaving about 3 inches between

  7. bake 375 for 8 to 10 min. cookies still appear moist when baken. cool 2 min then remove to rack. *if desired, remove nuts and add 1/2 c of chocolate chips
