Hearty crock-pot chili with veggies and lean ground turkey

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Chili

1 1/2 cup pinto beans
1 cup black beans
1 cup kidney beans
8 oz. diced tomatoes
1 lb. lean ground turkey
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 yellow bell pepper
1/2 orange bell pepper
1 small chopped onion
1 jalapeno pepper
3 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. cumin powder
1 tbsp. cilantro
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. black pepper

Recipe Directions for Homemade Chili

  1. Separate and clean beans

  2. Soak beans overnight

  3. Drain beans and put in crock pot with 6 cups of water on low

  4. Add vegetables and spices when beans are soft

  5. Spray a separate pan with a nonstick cooking spray and brown turkey

  6. When browned add to beans and vegetables

  7. Cook until all items are well heated and ready to serve

  8. Top with reduced fat cheese or tortilla chips
