Without the vanilla, this is actually my mom's recipe for buttermilk pancakes, but I found that adding a tablespoon of vanilla makes it the perfect waffle recipe as well.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Buttermilk Waffles

1 large Egg, Whole
1 cup Milk, Buttermilk, Fluid, Cultured, Lowfat
2 tbsp Oil, Vegetable Corn, Salad Or Cooking
1 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
3 tsp Sugars, Granulated
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
0.5 tsp Leavening Agents, Baking Soda
0.5 tsp Salt, Table
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract

Recipe Directions for Homemade Buttermilk Waffles

  1. Beat egg, then add wet ingredients and stir.

  2. Add dry ingredients and stir just until smooth.

  3. Cook 3-5 min on pre-heated waffle iron.
