Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Bread Stuffing

2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 small onion, minced
1 celery stalk, chopped fine
3 slices wheat bread, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 large egg, beaten
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp dried sage leaves

Recipe Directions for Homemade Bread Stuffing

  1. Melt butter in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to medium bowl and cool for 5 minutes.

  2. Stir bread, egg, salt, pepper, and sage into onion mixture until combined.

  3. (Optional) Use as directed in the Stuff Turkey Cutlets recipe.
