This blue cheese dressing is made from scratch so that includes making your own Mayonnaise. If you want to skip the first step then substitute 1/2 cup of store bought mayonnaise for the egg yolk, mustard, olive oil, and 1 tbs of lemon juice.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Bluecheese

1 egg yolk
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbs mustard
1 pinch of salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup Sour Cream
2/3 cups Blue Cheese, crumbled
1 garlic clove, minced
3 tbs lemon juice
2 tsp basil

Recipe Directions for Homemade Bluecheese

  1. Place egg yolk, salt, mustard, 1 tbs lemon juice, and pepper in a bowl. Mix with a hand mixer so it is all mixed together. Now slowly add the oil drop by drop while still mixing. It will emulsify and as you continue to add oil it will become stiff.

  2. Once you have made the mayo mix it with the rest of the ingredients.
