Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

390 grams Black Beans
0.5 medium Yellow Hothouse Bell Pepper
0.5 medium raw Onion Red
3 cloves, raw Garlic
1 large Egg, Whole
1 tbsp Chili Powder
12.6 grams Cumin
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1.5 pepper Pepper, Serrano
1/2 cup Corn, Sweet, Yellow
4 oz Cilantro
2 tsp dry mix Taco Seasoning
1/2 cup Bread Crumbs

Recipe Directions for Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

  1. If grilling, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil. If baking, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), and lightly oil a baking sheet. If cooking on skillet, add just a bit of olive oil to the pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.

  3. In a food processor, finely chop bell pepper, onion, and garlic and cilantro. Then stir into mashed beans, along with the corn (the corn was not chopped). Add the chili powder, the cumin, the cayenne pepper, salt and pepper to taste. After tasting the mix and adjusting the flavor, add the egg.

  4. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into four patties.

  5. If grilling, place patties on foil, and grill about 8 minutes on each side. If baking, place patties on baking sheet, and bake about 10 minutes on each side. If cooking on skillet, cook for about 10-12 minutes (if you cook it for less, the center of the patty will be creamy, so cook longer to avoid that).
